Texas A & M 6 Ohio State 3

At McKechnie Field – Bradenton, FL – May 24, 2003

The Buckeyes played poorly in every facet of the game, ending their season prematurely in the form of a 6-3 loss at the hands of Texas A&M.  OSU left seven runners on base during the game, including the bases loaded in the first, while hitting into four double plays, all of which killed potential rallies.  Three defensive errors, meanwhile, led to three unearned runs, which proved to be the difference in the ballgame.  Seniors All-American Mark Loudon-Brown and Chris Held both had two hits for the Bucks.

Despite the disappointing ending, the OSU Club Baseball team enjoyed yet another successful season, finishing 20-8 (14-5 GLC South) and earning their third straight trip to the NCBA World Series.

Individually, a number of Buckeyes had remarkable years.  Senior Mark Loudon-Brown, a two-time All-American and the club’s first first-teamer, will graduate as both OSU’s single season and career hits leader, mashing out 38 in 2003 for a three-year total of 93.  His .425 career batting average ranks second all-time.  Perhaps most amazing, however, is that Loudon-Brown struck out only 11 times in 219 career at-bats.

Senior Ryan Noward added to a number of career club records, including walks, runs, doubles, homeruns, and RBI.

Senior three-time All-American Dan Dietrich solidified himself in the OSU club baseball annuals, setting the standard for career wins (14) and upping his career strikeout record to 153.

Sophomores Adam Stewart and All-American Justin Wendling also made their ways into the single season record books, as Stewart’s 32 hits and Wendling’s 1.58 ERA are both good for second best in their respective categories.
