Sophomore starter EJ Strittmatter pitched admirably in going the distance for the Bucks, but a defensive implosion in the fourth led to six unearned runs and, ultimately, an 8-6 Buckeye loss to the Miami(OH) RedHawks. The loss leaves the Buckeyes a mere half game ahead of the RedHawks in the GLC South standings, setting up a huge two game series this coming weekend in Columbus.
At the plate, highlights included two hits each by seniors Bryan Jewell and Thad Bzomowski, plus sophomore Adam Stewart’s first bomb of his OSU Club career.
For the weekend, sophomore Justin Wendling picked up two wins for the Buckeyes, while, offensively, senior Bryan Jewell went 10 for 17 with four doubles, a triple, eight RBI, six runs scored, and two SB’s. Stewart also contributed a 9 for 16 performance, along with three doubles, a homerun, seven runs scored, four RBI, and an SB.
